Texas fugitive arrested with 50 pounds of pot

The Willits police noticed a burned out tail light on a car driven by a Texas man on Jan. 24. The driver, Trevor Ringo Smith, of Lubbock, Texas, had a fugitive warrant from Randall County, Texas. Smith was wanted in Texas after allegedly failing to comply with his probation requirements stemming from his felony conviction in August 2012 for attacking Amarillo police officers.

Lubbock man gets 20 years for his part in homicide

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1hq9MUN ) that 31-year-old Johnny Taylor entered a guilty plea Monday to a second-degree felony charge of unlawful use of a criminal instrument. Lubbock County deputy district attorney Sunshine Stanek tells the paper Taylor had faced a capital murder charge in the December 2003 killing of Huland Benson at his home.
